Marie Stopes Nigeria Commissions Two New Centres

Marie Stopes Nigeria is raising the bar in the provision of quality and client-centered healthcare services for all Nigerians with the opening of two state-of-the-art medical facilities in Port Harcourt in Rivers State on July 9th and Asaba in Delta State on July 15th both of which are in the Southern Nigeria.

The facilities offer women health and family health focused services, a welcoming space for clients and maintains very high standards for clinical quality, client safety, client management, and confidentiality. The centres are a one stop shop for women and their families to receive integrated healthcare that covers core sexual and reproductive health services, general health services, laboratory, and pharmacy services.



At both events, Country Director, Marie Stopes Nigeria Effiom N. Effiom stated that “Marie Stopes Nigeria is known for pushing boundaries, and through these Centres, we are committed to pushing the boundaries in client-centered care, ensuring that every client who walks through our centre doors receives quality care in a friendly and welcoming environment, and at a price they can afford”.

In Port Harcourt, the Director Hospital Services at the State Ministry of Health commended Marie Stopes for yet another milestone and encouraged continued collaborative relationship with all stakeholders.

In Asaba, the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Health commended Marie Stopes Nigeria on the launch of the new centre; noting that ‘the new Centre Asaba is another milestone and contribution that will expand access to quality and client-centred health care delivery, especially for women and children.” While acknowledging that “Marie Stopes has been instrumental in strengthening quality standards within the Delta State health system.” The Chairman of the Delta State Health Contributory Commission with enthusiasm confirmed that the commission will work with Marie Stopes to ensure the facility is optimised for service to Deltans.

Development partners and key stakeholders present delivered goodwill messages, commending Marie Stopes Nigeria for the establishment of the medical centres.

In both states, the events were attended by Executives from the Ministry of Health and its agencies, the parliament, Medical Associations, health practitioners, student bodies and residents.
